Saturday Social Ride 14/10/23

Despite the fact that we are now well and truly into Autumn, the Saturday morning social rides remain a key aspect of the Burners calendar.

Today was no exception and even though temperatures have taken a turn for the worse, over a dozen Burners braved the cold and threat of rain this morning.

After riding along Craig’s Road towards Hollybush then Dalrymple, we headed over to Maybole to sample the new smooth surface along the coast road south of Dunure. Before that though, there was the small matter of trying out a new coffee stop.

What’s not to like ?

The farm shop at Humeston Byre opened towards the end of last week, so rather than wait until we were back in Ayr for coffee we took the opportunity to stop there today. While there’s no indoor seating, there are plenty of benches outside offering a panoramic view to Alisa Craig and beyond.

The weather gods were smiling on us when stopped, as can be seen from the photos (thanks Jude !!!) and the coffee, scones and cakes were also top-notch. It won’t be the last time we stop there …

As an added bonus, the new road surface is also excellent and we didn’t get soaked !!!

What a view !!!
