Travels across Scotland

The good (ish) Summer (ish) weather coaxed out plenty of Burners over the past week with our Strava database full up of excursions to some interesting and far flung places.
The Prestwick Cycle Challenge has raised well over £300k for good causes during its 20 year history. This year a strong Burners contingent took part with the itinerary being Lairg to Thurso to Orkney to John O Groats to Wick….Well done to Rod, Christopher, John, Gary, Dunc, Dave C, JP, and Jo !
Donald Laurie followed in Janice McGeechans footsteps with a journey along the beautiful Hebridean Way, whilst Don Nicholson top trumped everyone with a 7 day ride through the Emerald Isle for Marie Curie – We await the pics Don !!
Our eternal youngster Robert Gemmel headed to Arran for the Hospice Charity ride which he completed in an impressive 3hrs and 40 minutes – There’s something in the watter doon Girvan way !
Our ‘Visit the Neighbours‘ challenge enters its 3rd week with Big Alex H sitting atop the leader board with 11 local authorities bagged. So far we’ve visited 21 out of 32 authorities….Can we bag ’em all Burners ?

On the off-road front Jo, Laura, and JP made the journey to braw Fife for round 3 of the Scottish Cross Country MTB series. The good folks at the Meedies bike club laid out a cracking course for the guys n girls with tons of dusty dry singletrack and some ‘fun’ fast descents – 1st place for Laura and 2nd for Jo in the Senior ladies race….Go.girls !
