Fort William hosted one of the biggest off-road events of the year last weekend as 800 mountain bikers headed to ‘Ten under the Ben’. This ten hour off-road endurance race is now in its 12th year, attracting riders from all across the UK and beyond. Ayr Burners Cycling QTS were represented in the pairs competition by husband and wife JP and Jo Baxter. Good recent conditions ensured that the technical trails would be fast and dry, with the Burners duo pacing consistently with laps of the 10 mile course taking just over the 1 hour mark. After a gruelling ten hours the Ayr Burners pair finished in an impressive 4th place overall in the mixed pairs competition.
The fifth challenge of the year, to visit as many of the 32 Scottish local authority areas in three weeks concluded on Sunday night, with West Coast Velo founder Alex Hamilton taking the most points. Full results can be seen here: Challenge Series Standings after 5 rounds
This weekend The Burners head for the ‘Ayrshire Alps’ for a social ride through some of the best scenery SW Scotland has to offer. There will be some timed sections along the way to keep riders on their toes with points up for grabs in the ABC Strava Ride series.
