A busy week for Ayr Burners Cycling QTS started on Monday with the final instalment of the “Tour du Lundi” series of rides. Members enjoyed some good natured battles over three consecutive Monday evenings with the prize being the coveted Yellow Bidon.
On Saturday the fifth and final round of the 2016 Strava Series took place in and around the forest tracks of the Galloways. The series proved a great success with almost 30 Burners taking part in the various rides that were held throughout the year. JP Baxter claimed the overall victory by narrowest of margins (1 point) from Chris Johnson with Rod Henderson close behind in 3rd place.
Saturday also saw Amy Burns and Jo Baxter compete in the Loch Lomond Triathlon where 150 competitors donned the wet suits and lined up in the idyllic setting of Balloch Castle Park. Both thoroughly enjoyed the challenging event and despite choppy conditions in the Loch and a tricky off-road cycle the Burners girls finished strongly with Jo in 7th place and Amy in 44th.
The final event of the week belonged to the kids as the Sparks and Flames of Ayr Burners enjoyed a fun packed sunny morning of games and activities at Belleisle Park in Ayr.
