Fun for All at ABC Skills Session
The second of our ABC Skills Sessions at Auchencruive on Saturday was another fun packed morning. 10 riders were delighted to be joined by Scottish Cycling Coach and Development Officer Fiona Walker who helped host a sessions of games and drills for new and experienced cyclists.
Feeling fresh after his Adventure Cross ride in the Ayrshire Alps last week, 14yr old Douglas Glendinning was quick to show off his control skills in slow speed handling games. Meanwhile 9 year old Ben Edwards and Ayr Roads CC youth Aaron Gibson took on their fathers in speed slalom and musical chairs game. After an hour of games it was pretty clear the adults were not nearly as agile as the youth!
Following the games we moved onto some group riding drills in the traffic free leafy lanes of the old agricultural estate. Calls of ‘Nose’, ‘Tail’, ‘Surface’ and ‘Single out’ echoed through the woods as confidence grew. By the end of the 2hr session we’d come close to mastering a chaingang whilst having great fun along the way!
Ayr Burner’s next novice friendly session is our Cyclocross Skills session at Rozelle on March 21st.
