New Year’s Day Mast Ride 2023

For the first time in several years, New Year’s Day didn’t present us with gale force winds or ice covered roads to navigate. Instead, we were faced with typical summer weather – a cloudy day with cold, wet roads and the ever present threat of rain !!!

Nevertheless, a healthy number of Burners turned up to brave the elements (and hangovers). However, a spanner was thrown in the traditional works with the news that Caffe Nero in town was going to be closed on New Year’s Day for the first time in living memory. Outrage !!!

This prompted a split in the group, with some returning home after the ride up to the Masts, while the rest completed a first Pennyglen lap of 2023.

There’s a host of exciting events planned for the Burners over the course of 2023 (see the Events page for further info – Events | Ayr Burners Cycling) so it was good to see folk getting in some early training !!!
