Burners scale Everest 5 Times!

With just one week remaining in our Ayrshire Alps Cycle Challenge four Ayr Burners have ascended all 16 climbs in the Ayrshire Alps Cycle Park while 17 of us have ridden up the equivalent height of 2,916m. This gives us a grand elevation of 49,572 metres the equivalent of going up Mount Everest (8,848m) 5.6 times, or up Ben Nevis (1,344m) 36 times. Wow!

All the latest stats and scores can be found in our scoresheet: 2014-03 ABC Ayrshire Alps Challenge

Despite the rotten weather that greeted us on Saturday morning we went ahead with the Ayrshire Alps ride and actually enjoyed a relatively good morning. Other than the wind and the low cloud the rain never appeared and five riders reached the comfort of every Ayrshire cyclist’s favourite cafe The Buck completely dry (ignoring sweat!).

We now enter the final week of the Ayrshire Alps Challenge with both Scott Knox and Duncan MacArthur having realistic chances of scoring maximum points.
