
Burners at the Beach
Cycling fans and racers headed in their droves to Irvine Beach Park on Sunday for Round 5 of the Scottish Cyclocross Series.
Ayr Burners Cycling QTS fielded many riders across the veteran and open categories with everyone eager to ride the famous coastal course that has always been a firm favourite in the calendars of Scottish Cross riders. Event organizer Scott Kerr implemented a new design that received glowing reports post race with its fast swooping twists, turns, and drops, but still retaining the popular parts such as the ‘Big Dipper’ and the leg sapping sand dune.
After a full days racing The Burners managed to step onto the podium in the Regional Championship with JP Baxter taking the South West Scottish Cycling silver medal with Brian Yates taking gold for Carrick CC.
This Sunday sees The Burners celebrate their 2nd Birthday wih a meal and and an end of year review at the Savoy Park Hotel in Ayr. The event is open to members and prespective members and will feature prizes, awards, and a guest speaker.
