It’s been a busy July for the Burners with plenty of rides and away days to keep the legs turning through the holiday period.
Our Saturday Burns Centre Burners Bunch has been ticking over nicely under the expert guidance of Big Duncan who knows how to cram all the best undiscovered back roads into a Saturday morning jaunt (0930 at the Burns Centre for 3 ish hours at a steady pace).
As the TDF kicked off on Continental soil, The Burners ‘Tour du Lundi’ got underway – A series of 3 Monday evening Strava rides in homage to the ‘Grande Boucle’. Week one saw last year’s winner Scott Knox take the top spot with a gutsy performance over the punchy climbs of East Ayrshire. Week two saw JP Baxter edge ahead in the standings on the longer ‘Alpine-esque’ climbs including Dundonald Hill…..So It’s all the play for in week 3 which is the Sprinters Special Stage…Check our events section for all the route details.
Our Challenge Series is also hotting up with the distance and ascent sections proving a tight battle of attrition between the ‘Men of the Miles’ – Alex Hamilton and Big Dunc McArthur.

Our Burners Boys abroad Jonny Burns and Martin Carmichael have thrown in some impressive ascent stats with their Etape du Tour and Marmotte rides respectively – But there’s still plenty of time (end of August) to get that mammoth ride clocked up and posted on Strava !! Get to it Burners !!
