Variety was the spice of life this weekend for Ayr Burners Cycling QTS as the riders rode on tarmac, grass, and the boards.
The Saturday ‘Burns Centre Bunch’ have been upping the mileage of late with the regular attendees reaping the fitness benefits of the steady weekly outing. The dozen strong group headed into the ‘Ayrshire Alps’ for a 50 mile jaunt which took in 3 of the bigger climbs in the area. The extra Saturday mileage has put the riders in good stead for the now sold out Ayrshire Alps Sportive which is looming large on the 28th of August.

With the Cyclocross season on the horizon it was time for the off-road Burners to re-hone the skills at Fullarton Woods on Sunday morning. Tight turns, hurdles, and sprint starts were on the menu giving the riders a taste of what’s to come over the next few months in the jam packed Scottish Cyclocross schedule.
Sunday evening saw 25 Burners head to the stunning Emirates Arena in Glasgow for a club outing to the Velodrome. The session was coached by Fiona Walker and Robert Ferguson who used relaxed expertise to give novice track riders confidence whilst providing the more experienced velodrome cyclists with some exciting race orientated drills.
