Family bike library

We have a few bikes and pieces of equipment to help get your family cycling. All items are available on long term loan to members of the Burners, having either been purchased by us or donated to the library.

Get in touch with Chris via info @ ayrburners.org if you wish to borrow any of the below!

Zoom / Scoot Balance bikes

We have two hard-wearing and high quality balance bikes, previously used for Sparks sessions. With 12″ wheels, lightweight frame and fast-adjusting saddle height, these are great for 2-year-olds plus to develop balance skills before getting ready for pedals

First pedal bike ‘Eddy Corsa’

This 12″ pedal cycle started life as a heavy Halfords special with stabilisers and all manner of pointless accessories. It has since undergone a radical transformation into a lightweight racing machine which we found ideal at Sparks sessions for the 3 year olds who were ready to pedal, but not tall enough for the most popular 14″ wheel kids bikes.

Say no to stabilisers with this ‘pedigree’ 12″ pedal bike – approx age 3-5#

Trailer-bike tag-along (by Isla Bikes)

Big thanks to Blair W for including this trailer-bike in the library. One of the first designs by Isla Rowntree of ‘Isla-bike’ fame, this is a quality tag-along to turn your bike into a tandem. Quality Reynolds lightweight steel frame with 20″ wheel complete with mudguard. Simpy fit the rear fittings as you would a pannier rack and feel the benefits of child labour as their efforts propel you forwards. Has good adjustment of saddle and handlebar height. Ideally suited for 4 to 6 year olds.

Hamax Siesta child seat – on loan

Thanks to the Goberts for including this high quality child seat. The seat provides first class luxury for infants age 9months plus, with a simple reclining function to help sleeping. A quick release clamp holds the seat on your bicycle down-tube, making the seat easy to release when you are not carrying young ones. Max weight is suggested as 22kg.

Hamax Siesta – approx 9 months to age 2

How to borrow?

We’d like to see this equipment getting used to share the cycling bug. If you would like to borrow or try any of the equipment get in touch. Long term loans are fine until your children grow out of the equipment. All we ask is you look after the bikes and equipment so someone else can use it after you are finished with it.

Meanwhile, if you have any equipment you would like to donate to the Burners’ family bike library superb! We can give it a mechanical check before someone else can enjoy it.

Either use the Burners Facebook Group Chat or email info@ayrburners.org
