Having ‘visited the neighbours’ in challenge 6, our Challenge Series moves on with 2 simultaneous challenges –
Challenge 7 – Biggest distance in a day
Challenge 7 is to go the greatest distance in a single day – and we will offer a point for every km travelled. So if your longest ride is 47km you will get 47 points. However, if your longest ride is 200km you will score 200 points. And if you are 16 or under you will score DOUBLE points on every km ridden.
Challenge 8 – Greatest ascent in a week
Running concurrently is Challenge 8, to climb the most ascent in a week. We will offer a point for every 50m climbed. So if you were to climb all the Ayrshire Alps you would score 58 points. But, if you were to complete a monster week of 4000m plus climbing you could score over 80. And if you are 16 or under we will give you an EXTRA 50% of your points free!
Now hang on, before you go booking a holiday in the Alps or Dolomites… we will penalise all ‘foreign’ metres by 10%. Sounds fair? Maybe not, but thems the rules!
How to play
To take part you have to be a member of our Strava group and have your rides posted before 7pm on a Sunday night so our internet gremlins can do their sums.
A Strava week runs Monday to Sunday. These challenges begin on Monday 3rd July and finish on Sunday 27th August, giving you 8 full weeks in which to have a whole lot of fun on your bicycle.
