Burners June Update

The solstice always provides a good excuse for riding bikes even more than usual, and this year it was no different for the Burners. Big mileages (200) were clocked up by Jude, Alex, Roy, and Paul who all took part in the Chase the Sun event (East Coast to West Coast). You’ll see Jude’s write-up of the experience in a separate post. Special kudos go to Paul and Roy who decided to cycle to the start line – 400 miles in total. Keen !!!

Our annual Ayrshire Alps ride took place with ten riders aiming to bag as many climbs as possible. Half the group called it a day at 10 alps (80 miles) whilst Charlie, Sharon, Gordon, and Kenny had the appetite for a further 3 climbs (115 miles) – chapeau to all !!!

Our resident Sportive expert Tony Greig had a busy June with the Skinny Tweed, Gritopia, and the Forest of Bowland Sportive all ticked off. Tony’s a busy man on two wheels …

In July we’ve got the Arran loop, the next instalment of the Pennyglen TT and a distance challenge for the members. Watch out for updates here, on the Facebook page or on WhatsApp.
