Burners AGM 2021 Minutes

It’s not as exciting as reading about a planned event or catching up on photos from the latest ride, but here (at last !!!) are the Minutes from our 2021 AGM. This was slightly different from previous years in that, like many meetings in these Covid times, it was held over Zoom rather than at our usual venue, the Savoy Park Hotel.

Hopefully. next year we’ll be able to welcome you all back there in person. In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments at all on the content below, just give us a call.

Open Events – Doonbank Trofee was cancelled.  Any future events require us to be in Tier 2.   Dr Bike at the Savoy Park Hotel proved a great success. Special thanks to our 4 volunteer mechanics: Dave, Chris, Road & Duncan.

JP is looking to utilize the Savoy Park for more club activities.
2Treasurer’s Report: Chris Johnson
Despite loss of income from the Doonbank Trofee, the club accounts are still in a healthy position.  ABC still has a decent amount of clothing stock to be sold.  Hopefully 2021 will see a return of income from events. Main outgoings are as usual afflictions and web hosting.  Membership fees will remain the same for 2021. JP thanked Chris for stepping into the treasurers shoes for this AGM.
JP and Chris to organise a list of clothing for sale and post via social media.
32021 Events   JP led a brief tribute to Craig Hardy who sadly passed away earlier on in the year.
ABC has provisionally booked Rozelle Park for a summer addition of the Doonbank Trophy to be held on June 4th 2021.  This will be a Friday evening race which requires us to be in tier 2 to run.  There will be Covid regulations and restrictions that will need to be adhered to.
Pedal Ayr Family Ride – ABC will be involved in the running of this family friendly event which will be held in September.  JP and Chris will keep members up to date with event details. All volunteering help will be greatly appreciated.
National Trophy Cyclocross, Falkirk – Following on from the success at Irvine Beach Park the National Trophy series comes to Scotland again in 2021. Falkirk Junior Bike Club will hold the event and has been pencilled in for October 2021. There will be volunteering opportunities for ABC members and JP is hopeful ABC members will compete.
Volunteers and ABC role in the event TBC.
JP to keep members updated.
4Safeguarding   Chris has updated his safeguarding qualifications. ABC ideally should have 2 CWO’s to share the role and is looking for someone to take up this post.
5Election of officials   JP thanked Rod Henderson for his 6 years of commitment as Treasurer of ABC.  Lindsey McGarvie volunteered to take on the post and this was seconded by Chris Johnson. JP thanked Lindsey for taking the position.JP to organise bank access for Lindsey.

Sport Scotland Facilities Fund – A proposal for regeneration of the old Prestwick Bing has been forwarded.  This would create a fantastic facility for cyclocross, skill training and kids cycling development. Project would be ‘match’ funded by South Ayrshire Council.
Walk, Wheel, Cycle, Vote – ABC will continue to  support this campaign which is asking all candidates to sign up to 3 clear pledges that will make Scotland a country where everyone has a choice to walk, wheel, or cycle in safety: accessibility, infrastructure and investment.
Chris will keep members up to date with news on the project.
