Let the good times roll: CX season begins

The first competitive race of the 2016/17 Cyclocross season kicked off upon the shores of Loch Lomond last weekend for 3 members of Ayr Burners Cycling QTS.
The Battle of Balloch Castle featured 2 races around the idyllic loch side setting with plenty of technical features to keep the early season competitiors on their toes. Best result of the day for The Burners went to Pete Ferrier who took 11th place on his single speed bike in the first race of the day. Joanne Baxter opened up her Cyclocross account with a solid 6th place finish in the ladies category.

Next weekend sees the Bute Cycling Festival kick off with a big mix of cycling events in various disciplines. Saturday sees the famous Serpentine Hill Climb kick off proceedings with a CycloCross race in the early evening. On Sunday an individual time trial followed by a road race should see Rothesay bustling with cyclists travelling from near and far for this now well established part of the Scottish Cycling calendar.
